"New Work"
This series marks a return to a material that I really love, (porcelain).
The simplicity of the white porcelain acts as a counterpoint to the complex tableaus it forms. The impetus for this series was my infatuation with the Figurines of Miessen and Sevres, but where as the subject matter of traditional figurines was either classical allegory or political scandal, these creations are organic and primordial, and appear to represent either the very distant past or distant future. Plant and animal forms immerge from the nebulous, but remain indistinct as if metamorphosing or disintegrating into the background.
