Eden A.D.
As a child few things satisfied like a field trip to the natural history museum. Lovingly rendered dioramas of Neanderthals sharing a meal by fireside, or Saber toothed cats closing in for the kill on an unsuspecting mammoth, stuck waist deep in tar pit, really sparked my imagination. They still do! There is certainly something of the mad scientist in me. This series only confirms it. My usual preoccupations about materials are put on hold where the Eden A.D. projects are concerned. I have incorporated everything from clay to silicone rubber, cast glass and plastic plants. This series mixes media in ways that I have been reluctant to do with other projects.
Eden A.D. is my imagining of Earth in the distant future, where millions of years of evolution have been augmented by human genetic tampering. A new paradise exists populated, by transgenic organisms, competing for survival.
